Crapstone is a small rural village in the civil parish of Buckland Monachorum, tucked into the rolling countryside of West Devon on the edge of Dartmoor, in Devon, England. It sits within easy driving distance of Plymouth and Tavistock, so while the setting is agricultural and residential, many residents commute outwards and the village benefits from the scenic granite landscape and outdoor recreation nearby.
Historically the area has roots in local farming and estate activity and is close to wartime features such as the former Harrowbeer airfield; socially it keeps the feel of a close-knit village with local events and parish life. The village name often catches the eye and has become a light-hearted talking point, but everyday Crapstone is typical of small Devon settlements - quiet, community-minded and closely connected to the surrounding moorland and lanes.
