Tamarside is a largely rural ward in West Devon, sitting alongside the steep, wooded valley of the River Tamar on the Devon–Cornwall fringe of Devon, England. Much of the riverside landscape falls within the Tamar Valley AONB, so the area is characterised by patchwork farmland, wooded slopes and a scattering of small villages and hamlets rather than any single large settlement.
Its character is shaped by a historic river and mining economy - you can still see reminders of quays, old mine works and narrow lanes - while today the local economy mixes agriculture, tourism and commuters who work in larger centres such as Plymouth or Tavistock. It’s popular for walking, cycling and river-based outings, and retains a strong sense of community centred on village halls, pubs and local events.
