North Weald Bassett is a largely rural parish and ward in the district of Epping Forest, Essex, England, lying north of Epping and west of Harlow. It combines a traditional village core with outlying hamlets, farmland and pockets of light industry, and is within commuting distance of London while retaining a strong village community feel.
The area is best known for North Weald Airfield, an historic RAF airfield used in the Second World War that now hosts aviation events, a museum and preservation groups. Local life mixes village halls, pubs and annual fairs with small businesses and agricultural activity, and there are several conservation areas and listed buildings reflecting a long local history.
