Theydon Bois is a compact village on the edge of Epping Forest in Essex, England, known for its attractive village green and pond, thatched and timbered cottages, and a medieval parish church. Much of the village lies within a conservation area and its name reflects a medieval connection with a Norman family called de Bois, giving it a quietly historic character set against ancient woodland.
Despite the rural feel, Theydon Bois has a London Underground station on the Central line, so it functions as a popular commuter village for London. Locally there are pubs, small shops and lively community groups, and the easy access to Epping Forest makes it popular for walking, riding and weekend countryside recreation while retaining a strong village atmosphere.
