Haggerston is a compact ward in the London Borough of Hackney, east London, lying along stretches of the Regent's Canal and sandwiched between Hoxton, Shoreditch and Dalston. It has handy transport links via Haggerston station on the London Overground and a handful of parks and canal-side walks, notably Haggerston Park, which give the area small green lungs despite its inner-city setting.
Historically a working-class, partly industrial district with many Victorian terraces and post‑war council estates, the ward has seen significant regeneration in recent decades: new housing, independent cafés and small galleries have appeared alongside long-established communities. The result is a socially mixed neighbourhood where rising property values and local arts activity sit beside active community groups and grassroots initiatives that reflect both the area’s past and its ongoing change.
