Slough is a large town in Berkshire, around 20 miles west of London. It grew from a coaching stop and market town into a major industrial and distribution hub in the 20th century, largely centred on the Slough Trading Estate, and benefits from strong rail links to the capital and proximity to Heathrow and Windsor.
Today Slough is economically diverse, with manufacturing, logistics and tech firms alongside ongoing regeneration of housing and town-centre facilities. The population is very multicultural, and the town is widely known in popular culture as the setting of the UK version of The Office, reflecting both its industrial reputation and the social mix of modern Britain.
