De Beauvoir is a compact, largely residential ward in the London Borough of Hackney, England, sitting just north-east of the City of London and bordered by the tree-lined towpath of the Regent's Canal. Its core, often referred to as De Beauvoir Town, is notable for a planned grid of mainly 19th-century terraces and villas clustered around the small communal green of De Beauvoir Square, which together form a recognised conservation area.
The area has a mixed social and cultural character: long-standing local communities alongside newer residents attracted by easy access to Broadway Market, London Fields, Dalston and Shoreditch, independent cafés, small galleries and creative businesses. An active residents’ association, regular community events and good links to the Overground at Haggerston make it a popular, village-like pocket within inner-city London, with rising property values reflecting its desirability.
