Hordle is a small civil parish on the south coast of Hampshire, England, sitting on the western edge of the New Forest district near Lymington and Milford-on-Sea. The parish covers a mix of rolling farmland, pockets of heath and low-lying coastal land close to Hurst Spit and the English Channel, with views over to the Isle of Wight on clear days; its landscape still shows medieval field patterns and the influence of historic manors even as later development altered its shape.
Today Hordle is largely rural and residential, with agriculture and tourism (holiday accommodation and proximity to coastal attractions) important to the local economy, while many residents commute to nearby towns. A small‑scale community life - village groups, a hall and a couple of pubs - combines with ongoing conservation conversations about protecting landscape and balancing development given its location beside the New Forest and the coast.
