Bushey Heath sits on one of the higher ridges in the borough of Hertsmere, Hertfordshire, forming a mostly residential suburb a short commute north‑west of London. The area grew out of open heathland during the interwar building boom, so you still notice stretches of green and undulating terrain alongside 1930s semi‑detached homes, local shops and schools; many residents use nearby rail stations at Bushey and Watford to travel into the capital.
Locally interesting is the legacy of transport plans that never quite arrived - the aborted London Underground extension from Edgware left a few earthworks and a bit of suburban folklore - and the proximity to countryside attractions such as Aldenham Country Park and the reservoir, which give the neighbourhood a mix of commuter practicality and easy access to open space. Socially it’s a typical commuter belt ward with a mix of long‑standing families and newer households drawn by schools, parks and transport links.
