Shenley is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Hertsmere, in Hertfordshire, England, sitting on the gentle rolling countryside a few miles north of London and close to Borehamwood, Radlett and St Albans. The village retains a compact, conservation-area feel with traditional cottages, lanes and a village green that belie its easy commuter links and proximity to the M25 and mainline stations.
Historically a medieval settlement - the name is thought to come from Old English for a "bright clearing" - Shenley now mixes period houses with modern homes and a community life centred on a parish church, village hall and local clubs. Its economy is largely residential and commuter-driven, with many residents working in London or in the nearby film and television studios around Elstree and Borehamwood, while village fĂȘtes, parks and conservation efforts keep a strong local identity.
