Great Ashby is a largely residential parish on the northern edge of Stevenage, within the district of North Hertfordshire in the county of Hertfordshire, England. It grew up as a planned housing estate on former farmland from the late 20th century and was established as its own civil parish in the 21st century, so its character is much more suburban and modern than many nearby settlements.
The area is notable for its mix of family housing, pocket parks and a small district centre with shops and a community centre, and many residents commute to nearby towns like Letchworth, Hitchin or to London via the A1(M) and rail links. Local life tends to be community-focused, with active residents’ groups, school activities and easy access to surrounding countryside for walks and leisure.
