Sissinghurst is a small village in the borough of Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England, set in the rolling farmland and hedgerow landscape of the High Weald. It is best known for Sissinghurst Castle Garden, the celebrated twentieth‑century garden created by Vita Sackville‑West and Harold Nicolson around the ruins of an Elizabethan manor.
The garden, now cared for by the National Trust, is famous for its intimate "garden rooms" and the iconic White Garden and draws gardeners, literary pilgrims and day visitors from across the country; that visitor trade helps sustain local pubs, B&Bs and a lively volunteer community, giving the otherwise quiet village an outsized cultural and historic profile in Kent.
