Prescot is a market town and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Knowsley, in Merseyside, lying roughly six miles east of Liverpool. It sits on the edge of the suburban fringe with countryside close by and benefits from decent road and rail links into the city and across the Liverpool City Region.
Historically the town became notable for watch- and clock-making from the 18th century, a legacy visible in local collections and old workshop buildings, while the medieval parish church of St Mary's anchors the centre. Recent years have brought cultural renewal around the new Shakespeare North Playhouse, and community life is shaped by a traditional market, grassroots sport such as Prescot Cables football club and ongoing regeneration initiatives driven by the borough council.
