Longridge sits on the western edge of the Forest of Bowland and at the foot of Longridge Fell, within the borough of Ribble Valley in Lancashire, England. Its ridge-top location gives wide views over the Ribble vale and makes it a popular base for walkers and hill runners, while still feeling distinctly semi-rural despite proximity to Preston.
The town grew markedly in the 19th century around stone quarries and related trades - its quarried stone was widely used locally - and was once served by a short branch railway for goods. Today there’s a mix of light industry, local shops and commuter households, alongside an active community life with sports clubs, annual events and a strong sense of local identity.
