Farington Moss is a small village and civil parish in the borough of South Ribble, in Lancashire, England. As its name suggests the settlement sits on former peat-rich "moss"land that was largely drained and reclaimed for agriculture in the 18th and 19th centuries, giving the area a flat, open character and a long association with farming; it lies close to the towns of Leyland and Preston.
Today Farington Moss feels largely semi-rural, with a mix of long‑standing farming families, local small businesses and residents who commute to nearby centres thanks to good road and rail links. The village maintains a strong local community spirit with clubs, a village hall and occasional community events, while also facing the familiar pressures of housing and industrial development found across the Lancashire plain.
