Farington East

Farington East sits on the southern edge of the borough of South Ribble in Lancashire, England, close to the town of Leyland and within easy commuting distance of Preston. The ward occupies a rural–urban fringe with a mix of housing, patches of farmland and small industrial estates, and benefits from good road links into the wider motorway network.

Once largely agricultural, the area has gradually become more residential and commuter‑oriented while still retaining pockets of countryside and local community life; nearby Leyland’s industrial history, particularly in vehicle manufacturing, has influenced employment patterns. Socially it feels like a compact neighbourhood with local shops, churches and community groups supporting an active local calendar and a generally quiet, suburban character.
