Lathom is a village and civil parish in West Lancashire, Lancashire, England, set on the flat agricultural plain close to the Merseyside border and just a few miles from Ormskirk and Skelmersdale. Its position on the rural fringe of the North West gives it a quiet, open character despite good road links into the wider conurbation.
Historically the settlement is best known for Lathom House, once the seat of the Earls of Derby and famously besieged during the English Civil War, and remnants of the house and parkland remain local landmarks. Today Lathom is largely agricultural with a mix of housing and a commuter population who travel to nearby towns or into Liverpool and Manchester, while village life centres on a small parish community and a handful of local amenities.
