Pilling is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Wyre, in Lancashire, England, set on the flat coastal plain of the Fylde close to the mudflats and salt marshes of Morecambe Bay. The landscape is defined by reclaimed marsh, drainage channels and wide tidal sands, making it popular with birdwatchers and those interested in coastal ecology; the nearest larger towns are Fleetwood, Garstang and Lancaster.
Historically Pilling grew as an agricultural and small‑scale fishing community shaped by land reclamation and the rhythms of the tide, and that agricultural heritage still underpins much of the local economy alongside small businesses and some commuting. Socially it retains a strong village feel with active community events, a village hall and local pubs, and its coastal setting gives it a distinct sense of place and long connections to the sea and marshland traditions.
