Upper Wensum is a largely rural electoral ward in Breckland, Norfolk, England, covering a string of small villages and hamlets set in the upper reaches of the River Wensum catchment. The landscape is typical of this part of Norfolk: a patchwork of arable fields, hedgerows and pockets of pasture, with the river corridor and pockets of wetland providing local wildlife interest and pleasant walking country.
Locally the economy remains rooted in farming and small-scale local businesses, with many residents commuting to larger centres such as Norwich for work and services. The ward has a strong village community feel - village halls, parish churches and occasional local events - and an architectural heritage of flint churches and historic farmsteads, while conservation concerns around habitats and rural services shape community discussion.
