Burnham Overy Staithe is a small coastal village in the district of King's Lynn and West Norfolk in Norfolk, England. It sits at the end of a tidal creek on the River Burn, backed by salt marshes and dunes with views out towards Holkham and the North Sea. The staithe grew up as a landing place and small trading quay in medieval times, with a long maritime and smuggling heritage reflected in its quayside buildings and narrow lanes.
Today the hamlet is best known for sailing, kayaking and birdwatching, acting as a gateway for day trips to Scolt Head Island and for exploring the nearby Holkham National Nature Reserve and Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The local economy is largely tourism‑led, supported by a few small fishing and shellfish operations, holiday cottages and the summer crowd of walkers on the Norfolk Coast Path, while the resident community remains small and close‑knit.
