The seaside town of Cleethorpes sits on the south bank at the mouth of the Humber estuary, where it meets the North Sea, in North East Lincolnshire, England. Its long sandy and shingle beach, promenade, traditional pier and the modest heritage Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway make it a popular day‑trip and family resort.
Originally a small fishing and salt‑making settlement that grew as a Victorian resort, Cleethorpes now relies largely on tourism, hospitality and local retail while sitting close to the fishing and port economy of nearby Grimsby. The town has a seasonal, family‑friendly atmosphere, nearby wildlife and birdwatching sites and seal colonies at places such as Donna Nook, and continues to balance its coastal heritage with modern leisure and community facilities.
