Immingham is a port town on the south bank of the Humber Estuary in North East Lincolnshire, England. It sits just west of Grimsby and is dominated by heavy industry and docks - the Port of Immingham is one of the UK’s busiest for freight, giving the town an industrial skyline of jetties, cranes and nearby power and chemical works.
Built up around the docks in the early 20th century, Immingham has a working‑class, maritime character with a community shaped by logistics, energy and seafaring trades; there are also saltmarshes and birdlife along the Humber Estuary for anyone interested in nature. Good road and rail links mean many residents commute to surrounding towns, while the town’s industrial heritage and waterfront setting are its most distinctive features.
