Brayton is a village and civil parish in the district of Selby, North Yorkshire, lying just to the west of the market town of Selby. Set amid mostly flat arable farmland and small pockets of woodland, the village has a rural feel while being within easy commuting distance of larger centres such as York and Leeds, and close to the River Ouse and the services of nearby Selby.
Historically an agricultural community tied to the market town, Brayton now combines traditional village features - a parish church, a primary school and a village hall - with a growing residential population. Local life tends to revolve around community groups and events, and residents make use of Selby’s amenities, including the historic Selby abbey, while enjoying quieter village living.
