Scunthorpe is an industrial town in North Lincolnshire, England, perched on the edge of the flat agricultural plains and within easy reach of the Humber and the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds. It grew rapidly in the 19th century after ironstone was found nearby, and the big steelworks shaped both the landscape and the local identity - the town is still commonly known as "The Iron".
