Flaxby is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Harrogate, North Yorkshire, lying a few miles north‑east of Knaresborough and within easy reach of Harrogate and Leeds. The landscape is largely agricultural, with nearby Flaxby Moor and the River Nidd valley providing open farmland, hedgerows and quiet walking and birdwatching opportunities.
Historically a rural community of scattered farmsteads, Flaxby has attracted attention in recent years because of proposals for housing and infrastructure and its proximity to the A1(M) and regional rail links makes it attractive to commuters. Despite development pressures, the parish retains a quiet, village character shaped by farming, local history and occasional planning debates about growth.
