Kirby Misperton is a small village and civil parish in North Yorkshire, England, lying on the southern edge of the North York Moors. It retains a rural character of stone houses, a parish church and working farmland, while also benefiting from nearby visitor attractions - notably the large family theme park and zoo at Flamingo Land - which provide local employment and bring extra footfall at peak season.
Historically the settlement has medieval roots and a name reflecting Norse influence, and village life is typical of the region with an emphasis on agriculture and community activities. In recent years Kirby Misperton has also been in the national spotlight because of onshore gas exploration and the KM8 well, a controversy that highlighted tensions between rural conservation, local opinion and energy development.
