Haxby is a small town on the northern outskirts of York in England, roughly four miles from the city centre. Once a distinct village, it has expanded into a largely residential commuter settlement with local shops, pubs, primary schools and sports clubs, while still offering easy access to surrounding countryside and the main road links into York.
Historically recorded in the Domesday Book and with a place-name of Old Norse origin, Haxby retains a village feel around its older streets and parish church. The community is active with local events, volunteer groups and small businesses, while many residents travel into York for work and cultural amenities.
