The civil parish of Clarborough and Welham sits a few miles east of Retford in Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire, England. The two villages occupy low-lying, largely agricultural land on the fringe of the Idle valley, with hedgerows, small woodlands and a scattering of traditional cottages and farmsteads that give the area a distinctly rural character.
Once primarily farming communities, the parish now mixes agriculture with a commuter population who travel to nearby towns and cities such as Retford and Sheffield. Local life is anchored by a village hall, clubs and a small primary school, and there are a number of historic buildings and features that reflect the settlements’ long local heritage, while active parish council and community events help sustain village life.
