East Drayton is a small village and civil parish in the Bassetlaw district of Nottinghamshire, England, set in a gently undulating agricultural landscape a short distance from its twin village of West Drayton and within easy reach of the market towns of Retford and Newark.
It retains a rural, village character with traditional cottages, a parish church and a close-knit community; recorded since medieval times, it is perhaps best known as the birthplace of the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor, an unexpected link between this quiet corner of the Midlands and several famous London churches.
