Marcham sits in the heart of the Vale of White Horse in Oxfordshire, about three miles west of Abingdon on the edge of the Thames floodplain where the River Ock threads through fertile farmland. The village has a long history of settlement - archaeological evidence points to activity in the Roman and medieval periods - and was part of Berkshire until administrative boundary changes in 1974 brought it into Oxfordshire.
Today Marcham combines an agricultural hinterland with a lively village community: there is a historic parish church with medieval roots, a village hall, a primary school and a pub, and local clubs and events that keep social life active. Its proximity to Oxford and Abingdon means many residents commute, while small businesses and light industry nearby complement the traditional farming economy.
