Hellaby is a small village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham, situated in South Yorkshire close to the border with Doncaster and just off the M18. It sits on the fringe of urban South Yorkshire yet retains a semi-rural feel, with fields, small areas of woodland and easy road links that make it popular with people commuting to Rotherham, Sheffield or Doncaster.
The village is perhaps best known locally for Hellaby Hall, an historic country house set in parkland that gives the area much of its character; the locality grew up around agriculture and estate activity and has gradually become more residential. Socially it feels like a quiet community of long‑standing residents and newer commuters, with opportunities for countryside walks nearby and practical access to shops and employment in the surrounding towns.
