Kew is a ward on the eastern side of Southport, within the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in Merseyside. It functions largely as a suburban residential area with a mixture of Victorian terraced homes and later 20th‑century housing, served by local parades of shops, community facilities and schools, and with straightforward road and rail links into Southport town centre and onward to Liverpool.
The area shares much of Southport's history as a town that expanded in the Victorian and Edwardian eras, so you’ll find a quiet, settled neighbourhood character and an active community life rather than heavy industry. Local employment and the economy are tied to the wider seaside town - retail, hospitality and public services - while residents also commute to nearby urban centres; proximity to coastal amenities and green spaces is a notable local benefit.
