Maghull is a suburban town in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in Merseyside, England, lying roughly seven miles north of Liverpool. It grew significantly with Victorian and 20th-century rail expansion and today functions largely as a commuter town, served by the Merseyrail Northern Line (including the newer Maghull North station) and sitting close to leisure landmarks like Aintree Racecourse.
Set on low-lying ground in the valley of the River Alt, Maghull combines suburban neighbourhoods with nearby greenbelt and farmland. Historically part of Lancashire, it now has a broadly family‑oriented social mix, local schools, parks and small business areas, with a community feel rather than an industrial profile.
