Melling is a small village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, in Merseyside to the north of Liverpool in England. Sitting on the urban–rural fringe close to Aintree and Maghull, it retains a largely rural character with farmland, winding lanes and a scattering of older buildings that reflect its agricultural roots and historic ties to Lancashire.
Today Melling combines a quiet village community - with a parish church, village hall and local clubs - and a commuter population who work in nearby towns and the city. Its proximity to Aintree Racecourse and surrounding greenbelt countryside makes it popular with walkers, while small shops and remaining farms still shape much of the local economy and social life.
