The ward of Dore and Totley sits on the south‑western edge of Sheffield, where suburban streets run into the hills and dales of the Peak District. It centres on the villages of Dore and Totley, offering plenty of green space, popular footpaths and good rail and road links to the city and to Manchester via the Totley Tunnel.
Both villages retain a strong local identity - village shops, pubs, churches and active community groups - and the area is known for being relatively affluent, attracting commuters and families drawn by good schools and countryside access. Historically Dore lay just over the county boundary in Derbyshire before becoming part of Sheffield in the 20th century, so the neighbourhood mixes older farm and Victorian buildings with more modern suburban development.
