Shawbury in Shropshire is a small rural village and parish a few miles north‑east of Shrewsbury, set on the gentle Shropshire plain beside the River Roden. Surrounded by farmland, it combines traditional cottages and more modern housing and is served by a village hall, primary school and a handful of local shops, giving it a close‑knit community feel with easy access to walking country and nearby towns.
The village is best known for RAF Shawbury, an airfield first established in the First World War that today operates as a major helicopter training centre and one of the area’s principal employers. Shawbury’s historic parish church of St Mary’s, agricultural roots and regular community events reflect its long local history, while its transport links make it a quiet but well‑connected base for commuters and visitors in the county.
