Stillington is a small village in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees in north-east England, historically part of County Durham. It sits on the rural edge of the Teesside area, within the Tees Valley, with agricultural land and the River Tees nearby and easy road links into nearby centres such as Middlesbrough and Stockton.
The settlement is largely residential with an agricultural hinterland and often functions as a commuter village for local towns; it nonetheless retains a village atmosphere with stone cottages, a village hall and community activities. There are local historic layers visible in older buildings and field patterns, and the social life tends to revolve around familiar village institutions rather than large-scale industry.
