Little Thurrock Blackshots is an urban ward on the edge of Grays in Thurrock, sitting close to the north bank of the River Thames. It mixes older terraces and post‑war housing with more recent estates, and still benefits from pockets of green space and remnants of the marshy landscape that once defined the area. Its position between town centre services and riverside industry gives residents easy commuting routes into London and access to local shops, schools and parks.
Historically the neighbourhood grew out of the old Little Thurrock parish and has been shaped by riverside trade and twentieth‑century suburban expansion. Today it feels like a practical, mixed community with a blend of long‑standing families and newer arrivals, local community centres and a livelihood tied into the wider logistics and retail economy of Thurrock, including neighbouring developments such as Chafford Hundred.
