Great Sankey is a residential civil parish to the west of Warrington in north‑west England, known for a mix of suburban housing and generous green spaces. The valley of the Sankey Brook is protected as Sankey Valley and follows the route of the historic Sankey Canal, one of the earliest industrial waterways, giving the area pleasant riverside walks, pockets of ancient woodland and a clear link to the region’s industrial past.
Today the community combines older village centres with newer developments such as Chapelford, good local schools and active sports and community clubs; it’s popular with commuters thanks to straightforward road and rail links towards Liverpool and Manchester, while retaining a fairly strong local identity and civic life.
