Old Windsor is a compact, historic village in the borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, England, set on the north bank of the River Thames and tucked up against Windsor Great Park. It predates nearby Windsor Castle as a royal settlement and still shows that heritage in its church and old lanes; today it combines a quiet, riverside village atmosphere with well‑heeled commuters, local pubs and riverside walks.
Wraysbury, a short drive east, sits beside the Thames and the cluster of water bodies including Wraysbury Reservoir and the nearby King George VI Reservoir, making it notable for birdlife, fishing and open water views. Its location close to Heathrow, the M25 and Staines-upon-Thames gives it a commuter and airport‑worker character, while residual marshland, gravel workings and occasional flooding shape the local landscape and community identity.
