Datchet is a small riverside village on the River Thames in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, lying just a short distance from Windsor and Eton. Historically part of Buckinghamshire until the 1974 boundary changes, it occupies a low-lying stretch of floodplain and is known for its waterside walks, pubs and attractive older cottages clustered close to the river.
Today Datchet functions largely as a commuter and local service village with good road and rail links towards Slough, Heathrow and London. A lively community spirit, village clubs and the appeal of the Thames Path draw both residents and visitors, while a mix of historic buildings and more modern housing reflects its evolving character.
