Ward in Fermanagh and Omagh, Northern Ireland

The electoral ward of Belcoo and Garrison sits in the western edge of Fermanagh and Omagh, right beside the border with the Republic of Ireland. The twin villages lie around the fringes of Lough MacNean and the Shannon–Erne Waterway, giving the area a strongly lakeside, rural character and close ties with neighbouring Blacklion and County Cavan across the border.
Locally the economy is a mix of agriculture, small local services and tourism centred on angling, boating and walking routes, while the landscape still shows traces of much older settlement patterns dating back to Gaelic times and the plantation era. The ward has a history as a border community - with the impact of partition and mid‑20th century transport changes still visible - and today people often highlight cross‑border cooperation, outdoor recreation and local festivals as important social and cultural features.
