The ward around Boho, Cleenish and Letterbreen sits in the rural west of Fermanagh and Omagh in Northern Ireland, a landscape of drumlins, peatlands and limestone karst. The locality sits close to the Marble Arch Caves Geopark and the Cuilcagh uplands, so caves, sinkholes, blanket bog and upland walking are prominent features and the area supports notable biodiversity and interest for cavers and nature-watchers alike.
Settlements are small and dispersed, giving a close-knit community atmosphere with a strong local tradition of music and Gaelic heritage and visible traces of long settlement in ringforts, holy wells and old church sites. The economy remains largely agricultural, supplemented by growing tourism for outdoor recreation and heritage, while many residents travel to larger towns such as Enniskillen for services; community halls and local initiatives play a big part in social life.
