The twin villages of Inverallochy and Cairnbulg sit on the north‑east coast of Aberdeenshire, Scotland, a few miles east of Fraserburgh. Perched beside the North Sea, they are characterised by long sandy beaches, dune systems and a small harbour, the coastal landscape shaped over generations by fishing and arable farming.
Historically a tight‑knit fishing community, the area still retains a strong local identity and a maritime character; nearby Cairnbulg Castle, a restored medieval stronghold dating from the 13th century, is a notable landmark. Today the villages mix traditional livelihoods with tourism and commuting to larger towns, and community life reflects that coastal and rural heritage.
