Fraserburgh sits on the north-east coast of Aberdeenshire in Scotland, and the ward is dominated by its busy North Sea port and long maritime history. The town is notable for Kinnaird Head and its lighthouse, now home to the Museum of Scottish Lighthouses, and for a substantial fishing and creel fleet specialising in shellfish; sandy beaches and dunes fringe the harbour and the seafront gives the area a distinct coastal character.
The surrounding district is largely agricultural, and the local economy has diversified from traditional fisheries into renewables, energy service work and tourism, while social life remains rooted in strong community organisations, local clubs such as the town’s football side and heritage events that celebrate the fishing and coastal culture. Recent years have brought regeneration efforts alongside familiar challenges of employment and population change common to many rural Scottish towns.
