Shuna is a small, low-lying island off Lismore in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, characterised by rocky shores, grassy pastures and a scattering of old field boundaries and ruinous croft houses. Its quiet, open landscape attracts seabirds and seals and offers striking views across the surrounding sounds to neighbouring islands and the mainland.
Historically the island has been used for grazing and small-scale crofting rather than large industry, and today it is valued for its remoteness, wildlife and archaeological interest rather than as a population centre; access is by private boat and visits tend to be occasional, by walkers, kayakers and naturalists. The island’s modest human imprint and easy coastal scenery make it typical of the small Hebridean isles of the region.
