Drumnadrochit is a small village on the western shore of Loch Ness in the Highland council area of Scotland, roughly 20 miles west of Inverness. It sits at the mouth of Glen Urquhart and the Great Glen, with views towards the ruins of Urquhart Castle and easy access to surrounding hills, Caledonian forest remnants and a network of walking trails.
The local economy mixes tourism - boat trips, the local Loch Ness Centre and the famous “monster” legend draw visitors - with traditional farming, fishing and small shops. Socially it feels like a close-knit Highland village with seasonal events and visible clan and historic influences, making it a handy base for exploring the Highlands while retaining a quiet, lived-in character.
