Eilean Shona is a tidal island in Loch Moidart off the west coast of the Highland council area of Scotland, reachable by boat and at low tide via a shallow causeway. A 19th-century house sits among mixed woodland, machair and sandy bays, offering wide views across the Sound of Arisaig and the surrounding seascape.
Historically home to a small crofting and fishing community, the island is now privately owned and used principally as a retreat and holiday letting estate with occasional artist residencies, combining conservation management with low‑key tourism. Wildlife is rich for its size - seabirds, red deer and otters are often seen - and the tiny, seasonal population gives the place a remote, quietly creative atmosphere much valued by visitors.
