Map of the UK

Rona (Gaelic: Ronaigh) is a small, largely uninhabited island off the north‑east coast of Skye in Highland, Scotland. It has a rugged shoreline with pockets of machair and grassland and is noted locally for seabirds, seals and other coastal wildlife; access is by private boat and it feels very remote compared with the busier parts of Skye.

Like many Hebridean outliers, Rona shows the imprint of Norse and Gaelic history and was traditionally used for crofting, seasonal grazing and small‑scale fishing and kelp gathering before 19th‑ and 20th‑century depopulation left ruins of old cottages. Today it attracts naturalists, kayakers and those interested in island archaeology and cultural landscape, and it remains part of the local crofting and coastal community story rather than a settled village.
