Penyffordd is a village in Flintshire, north‑east Wales, lying close to the England–Wales border and within easy reach of Chester and Wrexham. The name comes from the Welsh for “top of the road” and the settlement sits amid rolling farmland and suburban housing, with a small cluster of shops, a primary school and village pubs that help maintain a strong local community feel.
The village reflects the region’s industrial past – clay and mining activity in the wider area – but today is largely a commuter settlement, with Penyffordd station on the Borderlands Line linking Wrexham and Bidston. Its location also puts it within convenient distance of employment and retail hubs such as the Airbus site at Broughton and the amenities around Chester, while local clubs and events preserve a distinct village identity.
